I’m a lecturer for the Biomedical Engineering department and faculty supervisor of the BME Design Shop. Before BME, I taught in the school of Industrial Design, and have experience in industry. I teach BMED 2310, a core undergraduate course during which students learn the medical device design process. I always particularly enjoy teaching the hand sketching lesson!
Adam Verga
I’m a second-year BME PhD student, researcher, and lab manager in Dr. Scott Hollister’s lab, focusing on 3D-printed implants for tissue reconstruction. I currently mentor 12 undergrad researchers, 2 undergrad lab assistants, and 6 undergrad shop hands, serve as the dedicated prototyping and testing TA for BMED 2310, and manage the IBB’s BME 3D Printing Core. I started my BS in MSE at Georgia Tech in 2016, during which I served as technical officer for SEM in the Materials Innovation and Learning Laboratory and as president of my fraternity, researched genetically engineered e.coli for biofuel production, and developed a remotely controlled and monitored drug delivery device which my team and I took through Create-X and Inventure Prize. Between degrees I built a portfolio of research as a member of GT BME research faculty, now with 10 published peer-reviewed articles, 3 issued patents, and several pending patent applications around the world. In my free time I enjoy concerts, cooking, home improvements, and playing the saxophone and piano.
